The Titan's Curse
Edit
Dr. Thorn became a vice principal of Westover Hall, and he suspected two students there, Nico and Bianca di Angelo were powerful demigods. He first met Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Thalia Grace at the entrance, and their arrival confirmed Dr Thorn's suspicion. While Percy defied Thalia's orders and followed the di Angelo's and Thorn, he found that Thorn's main weapon was that he could shoot long and deadly thorns, (hence the name Dr. Thorn).
During the dance he took Nico and Bianca away while Percy followed, Thorn ended up capturing the three to a nearby cliff to make his escape. As his escape helicopter was arriving he was ambushed by Thalia, Grover and Annabeth. He was powerful enough to hold his own against them until the Hunters arrived causing him to jump off a cliff, with Annabeth on his back. He then delivered Annabeth to the General.
Dr. Thorn was seen again by Percy when he was tailing Grover, Thalia and Zoë on their quest at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. He went into the natural history museum to meet the General. Percy described him as being a "silly wannabe soldier" next to the General who was a born commander. He was later seen again on the docks in San Fransisco, showing contempt of the Skeletons that were supposed to be the ones to capture Percy. He battles the quest team and he nearly prevails when Mr. D kills him by wrapping him up in grape vines and then strangling him to death. Dr. Thorn was one of the only monsters to keep occurring in the same book. The others were Alecto and the Ophiotaurus.
Appearance
Edit
In his human form, Dr. Thorn has short grey hair, is clean-shaven, and wears a black military style uniform with a red trim. In his manticore form, his face remains human, but he has a lion's body and a long, scorpion-like tail that can shoot spikes. In both forms, Dr. Thorn has two different colored eyes: one is brown and the other one is blue.
